FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why does a bottle of CarboPro 1200 cost $13.90?

A: Because it is a premium fuel, with high quality pharma-grade ingredients and the number of calories it packs. One 16 oz. bottle of CarboPro 1200 has 1200 calories.  It equals the amount of calories you will get from 12 Gels or 6 bottles of other sports drinks.  It has six servings. Each serving (50 grams = 200 calories) costs $2.32. By the way each serving has 5 grams of pharma grade RIBOSE (average cost of a gram of RIBOSE is $0.18), which means there are $0.90 worth of RIBOSE in a serving of CarboPro 1200, and $5.40 worth of RIBOSE in a bottle CarboPro 1200.  Then there are 5 grams each of TREHALOSE and DEXTROSE per serving.  Not to mention 35 grams of the exceptional product CARBO-PRO per serving.  Therefore you are getting a great value for the kind of pure clean calories it provides.

Also, CarboPro 1200 is hot-filled (pasteurized) in a PET bottle, and unlike some gels and sports drinks, does not contain an over- load of preservatives.

PET is Polyethylene Terephthalate, and is recyclable. While most thermoplastics can, in principle, be recycled, PET bottle recycling is more practical than many other plastic applications. The primary reason is that plastic carbonated soft drink bottles and water bottles are almost exclusively PET, which makes them more easily identifiable in a recycle stream.

Q: What is CarboPro 1200?
A: CarboPro 1200 is the most advanced sports drink on the market. It provides clean pure calories for any sports or exercise activity.

When you go on a long training run or a bike ride (century-ride) you need at least 200 to 300 calories per hour. If you are train for FOUR to FIVE hours you need about 800 to 1200 calories for the entire session.  On an average an athlete needs 800 to 1200 calories for a Marathon, or for a 70.3 distance triathlon, and even much more for an Ironman or Ultra-Marathon. Would it be possible to carry all these calories in one bottle and mix it in separate bottles or drink directly? Sure! Why not?

The CarboPro 1200 was formulated from research based on latest clinical studies and feed back from elite endurance athletes. We put 1,200 calories of clean, pure energy and 1500 mg of electrolytes in a 16 oz / 480 ml recyclable PET bottle. CarboPro 1200 provides pure energy and electrolytes for any endurance activity under the sun. CarboPro 1200 is a balanced solution of four different forms of easily digestible and highly absorbable carbohydrates. It is a proprietary multi-level carbohydrate blend of ribose, dextrose, trehalose, carbo-pro, sodium, and potassium. It is a powerful fuel for the working muscles and increases energy and endurance during exercise.

For a long training session or a Race, such as a Marathon, 70.3 Distance (Half-Ironman) or Ironman, you can mix the required amount of calories (ONE serving = 200 calories) in ONE or several sports bottles.  When you mix 600 calories or one-half bottle (8 oz. of CarboPro 1200) in a bottle of water it just tastes like flavored water, and it is so easy to drink, but yet provides the surge of calories you need for 2 to 3 hours.  8 oz. of CarboPro 1200 also provides 450 mg of Sodium and 300 mg of Potassium. The entire bottle (16 oz.) provides 900 mg of Sodium and 600 mg of Potassium.

Q: How does CarboPro 1200 differ from other electrolyte gels and other sports drinks?
A: CarboPro 1200
is a very high quality source of fuel which rapidly replaces glycogen stores that are lost through exercise.  It is a very unique product and is unlike any other product in the marketplace. CarboPro 1200 is a balanced solution of four different forms of easily digestible and highly absorbable carbohydrates: four different kinds of substrates, which means four times faster absorption and utilization. It’s absolutely clean and pure and does not contain any gelling agents or other ingredients which slow down the process of absorption and digestion.

Q:  How many servings are there in one 16 oz. bottle of CarboPro 1200?                                                                                        A:  There are SIX servings, each serving providing 200 calories of energy and 150 mg of Sodium and 100 mg of Potassium.  However, the serving size varies based on the body weight of the athlete consuming the product.  It depends on the amount of calories you need per hour of training or racing. You see, the amount of calories you need is based on your weight. A 150 lb. athlete needs a minimum of 200 calories per hour.  If you weigh 180 lbs. then you need a minimum of 300 calories per hour of training.  In other words there are SIX hours worth energy for a 150 lb. athlete and FOUR hours worth of energy for a 180 lb. athlete.

Q:  What are the Four different kinds of Carbohydrates does the CarboPro 1200 have?                                                                   A:  Ribose, Trehalose, Dextrose, and CARBO-PRO

Ribose is a unique, 5-carbon sugar that occurs naturally in all living cells and forms the carbohydrate portion of DNA and RNA, the building blocks of life. Ribose is also the sugar that begins the metabolic process for production of adenosine triphosphate (or ATP). ATP is the major source of energy used by cells including muscle tissue for normal function. Intense exercise causes a significant decrease in skeletal muscle energy levels. In fact, it can take 3 days or longer for these energy levels to recover! Recent studies show, however, that supplementing with high quality ribose hastens energy recovery in all types of skeletal muscles. This means you'll be able to work out longer and build muscle faster because you will recover quicker from intense workouts, having the energy to do more!

Trehalose is a disaccharide, does not promote excessive insulin release. It helps with quick gastric emptying and sustained energy release. It balances dehydration/re-hydration cycle. It is a powerful antioxidant and is tooth friendly, and also prevents tooth decay or other problems caused by other sports drinks.

Dextrose is a monosaccharide and is identical to the glucose found in blood. It is absorbed rapidly for surge of energy and quickly activates the transport mechanism.

CARBO-PRO is -a patented, proprietary glucose polymer;
polymerized to obtain optimal chain lengths for quick gastric emptying without excessive insulin release. It provides sustained energy release for longer periods and forms the substrate for all the other carbohydrates.

CarboPro 1200 provides a balanced combination of different carbohydrates, sodium and potassium, to open all the gates and pathways, to use all the transport mechanisms to quickly and consistently increase energy levels, and keep it up there for five to six hours of any strenuous endurance activity.

Q: Does CarboPro 1200 have any electrolyte?                                                                                                                                 A:  Yes, there are 1,500 mg of electrolytes in a bottle of CarboPro 1200.  Each serving of 200 calories provides 150 mg of Sodium, and 100 mg of Potassium, which is sufficient for training or racing in normal conditions.  However, in extreme conditions, if it is very hot and humid, and you are sweating a lot, then you might need much more Sodium.  In such conditions an athlete should get extra electrolytes from a good salt-electrolyte product such as THERMOLYTE.

Q: I’ve heard that there are benefits to having protein during exercise. Why doesn’t CarboPro 1200 contain protein?
A: Protein is certainly KING.  It’s an absolute must for any athlete. An athlete should maintain a minimum intake of 1.25 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight, per day.  However, it’s not necessary that this protein be consumed during training or racing. In fact during activity all you need are water, calories, and electrolytes. Any thing else in the mix will only prevent proper absorption of calories, and mess up hydration. Your performance will suffer.  There are a lot of research studies and clinical studies which point towards keeping it simple: consume protein before and after the activity, not during. Unless you are doing ultra-distances, such as Ultra-Marathons and Cycling Tours you do not need protein during the activity.

Q: What are the benefits of taking CarboPro 1200?
A: The benefits of CarboPro 1200 are:
 1. Rapid and sustained energy to working muscles; 2. Improved fluid absorption and hydration; 3. Improved glycogen resynthesis; 4. Electrolytes; 5. Improved recovery so you are fresh for your next training session; 6. Reduce your perceived effort and heart rate during physical activity;  7. Reduce muscle fatigue, cramping and burning; 8. Avoid the 'bloated feeling' you get from other sport drinks; 9. You will find exercise, training and racing easier and feel stronger;  10. Be able to achieve sudden bursts of energy when required.

Q: How long after I open CarboPro 1200 do I have before I need to consume it?
A: CarboPro 1200 is hot-filled (pasteurized) and is as good as it gets, unlike most concentrated gels and drinks which have a load of preservatives. At room temperature, after you open the sealed lid and take your first sip, it will remain good for consumption for up to 48 hours. After that you should keep it in a refrigerator.

Q: How long does the 16 oz bottle last and how do I store it?
A: The 16 oz. bottle has SIX servings and will make six sports bottles each containing 200 calories or  energize you for SIX hours of exercise activity. It comes with TWO years shelf-life and should be stored in your refrigerator once it’s been opened. Once diluted in a separate bottle it should be consumed within 24 hours unless stored in the refrigerator.

Q: How does it taste?
A: CarboPro 1200 is a  great-tasting product that has natural flavors and 100% natural ingredients. It does not contain any added sweeteners nor any  gelling agents. It is slightly thicker than a normal sports drink, but much more fluid than any gel, and mixes readily in any water.

Q: What flavors does CarboPro 1200 come in?
A: It comes in two great tasting flavors: Orange and Wild Berry. It tastes like a mild fruit drink that is easily palatable and unlikely to cause stomach upset, even during intense exercise.

Q: How much CarboPro 1200 should I use during my training and racing?
A: Research shows that every hour of exercise activity an athlete should consume a minimum of 200 calories, and 150 mg of sodium and equivalent balance in all electrolytes.  CarboPro 1200 is formulated to provide these levels. Each serving of CarboPro 1200 provides the minimum requirement of 200 calories and electrolytes. However, remember that calorific demands vary based on weight, therefore 200 calories is the minimum for a 150 lb athlete, and 300 calories is the minimum requirement for an athlete who weighs 180 lb.  In other words you can consume anywhere form 1.5 calories to 2.0 calories per lb of body weight.  Please try and find out what works best for you and stick with it.

Q: What types of athletes can take CarboPro 1200?
A: All athletes; Power, Strength and Endurance athletes, have to train hard to condition and improve skills and performance.  Athletes expend energy during training or during competition and they have to quickly and consistently replenish this source of energy which is primarily muscle glycogen.  They have t o replace electrolytes lost in sweat as well. Therefore any athlete training hard or performing hard for an hour or more can benefit from the regular use of CarboPro 1200.

Q: Can I use CarboPro 1200 for  short races?
A: CarboPro 1200 has the combination of  Ribose, Trehalose, and Dextrose, which together provide explosive energy which can prove to be very beneficial for short races.  Take a serving, 200 calories, 15 to 30 minutes prior to a short race and see for yourself.

Q: Can I use CarboPro 1200 in long races?
A: Sure, CarboPro 1200 is perfect for long races.  A 16 oz. bottle contains 1200 calories.  This is good enough for FOUR to SIX hours of continuous training or racing. During long races or long training sessions an athlete experiences considerable stress. His/her muscle glycogen (energy) stores and electrolytes are depleted. CarboPro 1200 replenishes muscle glycogen and electrolytes. During IM distance races or Ultra-marathons you may need more than a bottle as the race may normally last for more than SIX hours. It is easily digested and rapidly absorbed, and will not cause a hypertonic solution even after being continuously used at the rate of 200 calories per hour.

Q: Are there any studies on CarboPro 1200 and its effects?

A: Numerous scientific studies in the fields of sports medicine, internal medicine and psychology have examined the various ingredients which have been used in CarboPro 1200,  and their effects, separately and together.  Additionally, there is the direct experience of hundreds of endurance athletes who know that it works for them.

Studies have concluded in general that:

CarboPro 1200 is a premium hydration drink scientifically designed to provide calories, electrolytes, and naturally hydrate the body before during and after physical activity. The formulation delivers everything your body needs and nothing it does not.  It contains the right balance of different sugars (calories)  and electrolytes to naturally hydrate you for peak performance.

After all one consumes gels or sports drinks for calories and hydration.  Why go elsewhere when you have the best.  Remember you need a certain amount of calories, an optimal level for your physiology, for your level of performance. Too little or too many calories may have a negative impact on your performance.

Q: Will taking too much CarboPro 1200 be harmful? How many servings of CarboPro 1200 can you take in one day?

A: CarboPro 1200 is like gas in the tank.  If you drive you have to fill gas in the tank and your vehicle will consume it.  Similarly, you will be burning energy / calories as long as you are exercising, running, swimming, biking, skiing, or doing any other kind of sports activity. On an average an athlete needs 200 to 300 calories per hour of training racing.  If you are in a TWO hour race you may need at least TWO servings.  However, if you are doing an Ironman in 10 hours, you may need at least 2,000 calories, about TWO bottles.

Q: Are there any side effects that you are aware of from using CarboPro 1200?

A: We are not aware of any athletes who have had problems from using CarboPro 1200. Energy drinks that contain caffeine (like Red Bull et al) are diuretics (meaning they cause dehydration) and therefore may not be suitable for endurance athletes.
